His research interests include multiculturalism and cultural hegemony, and political economy of political film and video. He is also interested in policy around media ownership, concentration and convergence. His current research looks at the potential for political cinema combined with digital networks to act as interventions in the commercial exhibition market to build a strong public sphere, as well as the lack of diversity of cultural product offered at Canada’s film exhibition sites. An adjunct to this research is an interrogation of the EU’s CinemaNet Europe system and Brazil's digital network, Rain. His main thesis is on the grassroots distribution and exhibition of documentary film in Canada.
